Sweethearts
Arguably the most popular and well known Valentine's Day candy are conversation hearts or Sweethearts made by Necco. Sweethearts are bite-sized candy pieces that come in assorted flavors and colors. They are best known for having short, printed messages on them. These messages include "Be Mine", "Kiss Me", "I Love You", and many others. Sweethearts candy date back to 1902. The messages have been updated over the years, with many older messages being retired and replaced with new ones. The basic recipe for the candy has never been changed. -
