Used or refurbished MacBooks can be purchased at a significant discount compared to the retail price. This page provides links to retailers of used MacBooks, as well as a brief overview of the market. For a detailed guide to purchasing refurbs, see How to Buy Refurbished Electronics.
Pricing
Used first-generation Core Duo MacBooks can run as low as $700, about $400 below the original retail cost. More recent and higher-level models will cost more.
Warranty Coverage
Used MacBooks purchased from the Apple Store do include Apple's standard 1-year warranty. MacBooks purchased from individuals, on the other hand, may include the warranty, but only if the machine is still within original basic warranty period (1 year), or the optional extended AppleCare Protection Plan (3 years). Both of these plans are transferable between owners.
