Usagi Yojimbo ("rabbit bodyguard") is an American comic book series created by Stan Sakai.
Synopsis
Set in Japan's Edo period, Usagi Yojimbo is popular for its use of anthropomorphic animals, most notably the title character, Miyamoto Usagi, an honorable sword-wielding rabbit who often works as a bodyguard.
The character of Usagi Yojimbo perhaps reached its widest audience as an ally to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, appearing in the popular franchise's cartoon series and toy line in the 1980s.
Because of the comic book's integration of Japanese culture into its storylines, it has won several awards, including the 1990 Parents' Choice Award and multiple Ursa Major Awards in the early 2000s.
