The United States is sending two 18-member football, or soccer as it is called in the U.S., teams to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Each team is competing from August 6 to August 24, 2008, at seven venues in and around Beijing.
The U.S. women's team defeated Brazil in the gold medal match on August 21, 2008. The men's team recorded one win, one loss and one tie in the preliminary round and did not qualify for the playoff round.NBC Olympics: Soccer: Results and Schedules
