Urchin Software is web anayltics software from Google, intended for use by larger organisations. It provides insight into website traffic and visitor behaviour for the purpose improving site design to achieve buisness goals such as maximising revenue.
Urchin was originally developed by the Urchin Software Corporation, but was sold to Google in 2005.Google: Urchin Software.
Urchin is related to Google Analytics which is a free version suitable for many sites. Unlike Googe Analytics, Urchin is hosted on an organisation's own servers, and requires specialist technical expertise to install.
A free trial of Urchin can be downloaded from the Google site, but a full license costs $2,995 and is only available through authorised Urchin consultancies.
