University History
The university was originally founded in 1850 as the University of Deseret. After only two years of operation, the school was closed, and then reopened in 1867. It assumed its current name in 1894 and moved to tis present location in 1900. Most recently, in 2002, the university, and Salt Lake City, had the honor of hosting the Winter Olympics.
