University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) is a private university that grants undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees in science, health and pharmaceutical fields.
History
In 1821, a group of Philadelphia pharmacists founded the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy with the intention of training students in a scientific standard that would improve their profession. The college opened its doors to women in 1876. In 1997, it achieved university status and changed its name to University of the Sciences in Philadelphia the following year.USP: ,http://www.usp.edu/aboutUSP/USPhistory.shtml History]
The Campus
The 35-acre campus is part of University City, a neighborhood in Philadelphia that the school shares with the University of Pennsylvania.
