University History
The school was originally founded in 1740. After help from Benjamin Franklin, the university opened in 1951. The school later merged with the University of the State of Pennsylvania, in 1791, to officially form the University of Pennsylvania. In 1872, the university moved to their present location in West Philadelphia. -
