  • The University of Central Missouri, formerly Central Missouri State University, is an institution of higher learning. The school's athletic teams play in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
  • University History

    The school was originally founded in 1871 as the State Normal School District #2. Nearly three decades later, in 1919, the school's name was changed to Central Missouri State Teachers College. The football program, which was founded in 1895, got its own stadium in 1928. Its name changed again in 1946, going to Central Missouri College, then again in 1971 to Central Missouri State University. Most recently, in 2006, the school's name was changed once again, to the University of Central Missouri.
