  • History

    In 1864, Hugh Toland established Toland Medical College in San Francisco. The school began with eight students and by 1870 it had a class of thirty and had granted diplomas to forty-five graduates. Toland wanted his college affiliated with a larger institution and so University of California, only two years old at the time, was deeded the medical college in 1873.University of California, SF: [1]
