The UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees spent $100,000 in February of 2007 to study adding the team. In December of that year, the feasibility committee voted unanimously in favor of the addition. Officials discussed the decision for the next several months, examining specifically the financial needs of the program. After Chancellor Dr. Philip Dubois officially endorsed the team in September of 2008, the decision will now go to a vote by the Board of Trustees in November of 2008.Official Site: Charlotte 49er Football Initiative
