With their 23rd victory of the season the UMBC Retrievers Men's Basketball team earned a spot in the championship game of the America East Conference, their first ever championship game, in 22 years of NCAA Division I competition. Their 23rd regular season win ties a 41-year old school record for season wins and completes their first winning season for head coach record Randy Monroe, in his fourth season. A win in the conference championship game would give UMBC its first ever appearance in the March Madness Tournament.
