Umaga

Umaga was a Samoan professional wrestler who wrestled for the WWE, but was released from his contract in July 2009 after failing a drug test.

On December 4, 2009 Umaga passed away at the age of 36 after suffering a heart attack.

WWE Career

Eddie Fatu debuted as the character Umaga in 2006. With tattoos on his face and body, he was dubbed the "Samoan bulldozer" for his intensely physical wrestling style. Umaga immediately started feuding with Ric Flair upon his arrival, then fought against Kane for the rest of 2006.

Up to this time, Umaga was never pinned, and therefore declared himself the #1 contender for the WWE Championship in 2007. His streak would end at the hands of then-champion John Cena at both the New Year's Revolution and Royal Rumble pay-per-views.

Trumped

Perhaps Umaga's biggest match was against Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 23. Billed as the "Battle of the Billionaires," Umaga wrestled on behalf of WWE owner Vince McMahon while Lashley fought for Donald Trump. If either man lost, the "billionaire" they represented would have to shave their head.

With the help of referee Stone Cold Steve Austin, Lashley pinned Umaga, and to the delight of fans, McMahon left the arena bald.
