The Ultramagnetic MC's released their groundbreaking debut album, Critical Beatdown, in 1988. The album was unique for it's innovative use of sampling and abstract lyrical content.

The group released two more albums before breaking up, 1992's Funk Your Head Up and 1993's The Four Horsemen.

In 2007, the Ultramagnetic MC's released a reunion album titled The Best Kept Secret without original member Kool Keith. Since leaving Ultramagnetic MC's, Keith has had a successful solo career using several different aliases including Dr. Octagon and Dr. Dooom.
