  • Ukraine held parliamentary elections on September 30, 2007. The elections established a new government after President Victor Yushchenko dissolved the previous parliament on April 2, 2007. Two coalitions competed for majority control. The Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (BYuT) was led by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, and won a slight majority lead over its chief rival, the Party of Regions.
