End of UGGs?
- According to an article published in the Australian publication, The Mercuryon March 3, 2009, the Cuthbertson Brothers, producers of Ugg-boots, were at a sheep and lamb skin supply impasse. The Cuthbertson Brothers had been processing cattle, sheep and lamb hides for more than 150 years. Unfortunately, the Ugg-boot producer was informed by US-based Swift, the owner of Longford Abattoir, that the Cuthbertson Brothers could no longer come on site to tender for the skins. Cuthbertson Brothers Manager Wayne Jones says, "most of the sheep and lamb skins we produce go to the United States as a premium Tasmanian Ugg boots. Unless something is done to stop Swift abusing their market power, Tasmanian Ugg boots will be lost."The Mercury: Ugg Boots Under Threat (March 3, 2009)
