UFC 2009 Undisputed a fighting game based on the Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, a mixed martial arts organization founded in 1993. The game features real UFC personalities like fighters, commentators, referees and trainers. The game's roster boasts 80 different fighters, 16 for each of the five weight divisions. In addition to the standard roster, Efrain Escudero and Ryan Bader will be available exclusively to those who purchase UFC 2009 Undisputed from GameStop.

Fighters in the different weight divisions have unique strengths or weaknesses. A lightweight is generally faster, while heavyweights will throw stronger punches that have a greater chance to cause a knockout. Many fighters can switch their weight class. For example, Mike Swick is a welterweight who can also fight in the middleweight division.
