The University of California Los Angeles plays college football as one of the charter members of the Pacific Ten Conference. The team plays home games in the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. In 2008, former quarterback Rick Neuheisel begins his first season as the team's head coach.
The Gridiron Wizards of Westwood
Although not nearly as successful as their men's basketball playing counterparts, the football program has had its share of success. In 1967, quarterback Gary Beban won the Heisman Trophy. Other great players in Bruins history include Troy Aikman, Tom Fears, Billy Kilmer, Kenny Easley, Tommy Prothro, Jonathan Ogden, Maurice Jones-Drew, Mel Farr, Ken Norton Jr., Flipper Anderson and Randy Cross. Two other noteworthy Bruins players were actor Mark Harmon and baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson.
