Professional golfers Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate faced off in a rare U.S. Open playoff on June 16, 2008, at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California.
Woods birdied on the 18th hole to force a sudden death on the 19th, and then beat Mediate on the first hole. The win marked Woods' third U.S. Open win and his 14th major title.
