The U.S. Bank Championship is an annual golf tournament on the PGA Tour. On October 15, 2009 the Milwaukee Golf Charities dissolved the organization and the tournament due to poor attendance and lack of sponsorship. A new tournament website and information will be available when a new sponsor for the 2010 event is found.http://www.usbankchampionship.com/
Background
The U.S. Bank Championship was originally known as the Milwaukee open and was founded in 1940. The first winner was Ralph Guldahl. The tournament wasn't held again until 1951, when it was renamed the Blue Ribbon Open and was won by Joe Kirkwood. After another four year absence of the tournament, it was renamed the Miller High Life Open in 1955. It was won by Cary Middlecoff, who won the event a second time in 1958. The event was renamed the Milwaukee Open Invitational for 1960 and 1961. There was a seven year absence of the event from the tour and in 1968, it was renamed the Greater Milwaukee Open. The tournament has been known as the U.S. Bank Championship since 2005.
