Background
The U.S. Bank Championship was originally known as the Milwaukee open and was founded in 1940. The first winner was Ralph Guldahl. The tournament wasn't held again until 1951, when it was renamed the Blue Ribbon Open and was won by Joe Kirkwood. After another four year absence of the tournament, it was renamed the Miller High Life Open in 1955. It was won by Cary Middlecoff, who won the event a second time in 1958. The event was renamed the Milwaukee Open Invitational for 1960 and 1961. There was a seven year absence of the event from the tour and in 1968, it was renamed the Greater Milwaukee Open. The tournament has been known as the U.S. Bank Championship since 2005. Notable winners include Corey Pavin, Greg Norman, Lee Trevino and Loren Roberts.http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/r029/winners.html Corey Pavin, Ben Crane and Loren Roberts hold the record for lowest tournament score of 260 and Crane and Pavin hold the record for lowest score relative to par at minus 20.http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/r029/winners.htmlWinners
