• Tzimmes is a sweet casserole or stew of vegetables, usually consisting of carrots, prunes, honey and brown sugar, seasoned with cinnamon and allspice. It is a traditional accompaniment to Jewish holiday meals, such as the Passover seder. Tzimmes is a melange of many foods, which is probably why it got its name. The word "tzimmes" is Yiddish for a complicated situation, usually translated as "big fuss".
