Basketball Career
After leading his high school to a state championship, Chandler declared for the NBA draft in 2001. He was drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Clippers and was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls. After dealing with injuries and feuds in his first few years, Chandler became a key part to the Bulls' 2005 playoff run. He became a defensive specialist and made notable game-saving blocks. Despite his long-term contract with the Bulls, Chandler had his struggles during the 2005-2006 season and was traded to the New Orleans Hornets on July 5, 2006. He had his statistically-best year during the 2006-2007 season, averaging nearly 10 points, over 12 blocks and two blocks per game.
Additionally, Chandler played with the US Men's National Basketball Team in the FIBA Americas Championship in 2007, helping the team win the gold medal.
