  • College Basketball Career

    Lawson made his college basketball debut with the Tar Heels in the 2006-2007 season, playing in 38 games and averaging 10.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists. He led the ACC in assist-turnover ratio, earned All-ACC All-Rookie honors and helped the team reach the Elite Eight. In his sophomore season, he led the Tar Heels in assists, averaging 5.2 per game. Lawson missed the last six games of the season, but still was selected as an All-ACC honorable mention. He initially declared eligible for the 2008 NBA draft, but later withdrew to continue at North Carolina.North Carolina Tar Heels: Ty Lawson

    In 2008-2009, Lawson played in 33 games, averaging 16.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.0 steals. He was selected as the ACC Men's Basketball Player of the Year and second-team All-American, plus won the Bob Cousy Award, as the top collegiate point guard in the country. The Tar Heels finished the season with a 32-4 record, including 13-3 in the ACC and started the NCAA Tournament as the top seed in the South Regional bracket.North Carolina Tar Heels: Ty Lawson
