The service Twitterank calculates a "page rank" for users of the popular micro-blogging service Twitter based on their overall level of influence and popularity. Using a secret algorithm that requires a user's Twitter username and password, the site expresses a user's rank as a two or three digit number. The service launched on November 12, and by that afternoon, rumors were spreading around the Internet that the site may be a scam aimed at stealing Twitter information.
