Twitter co-founder Biz Stone responded to the report on May 25, 2009, saying there is no official Twitter TV show, however the company does have a "lightweight, non-exclusive, agreement with the producers which helps them move forward more freely."Twitter Blog: Twitter Goes Hollywood?
Concept
According to reports, the television show would challenge ordinary Twitter users to follow the trail of the many celebrities on Twitter, in a competitive format. Although not many details were immediately released, Jon Liebman of Brillstein Entertainment stated that "We've found a compelling way to bring the immediacy of Twitter to life on TV."Variety: Twitter, Brillstein Develop TV SeriesReactions
After the news of the proposed show circulated, many were apposed to the idea, including several high priority celebrity users. Actor Ashton Kutcher, who beat CNN in a contest to become the first to amass over one million followers on Twitter, vowed to stop using the service if such a show was created. He posted messages stating "It's all fun and games until somebody gets stalked" and "Wow I hope this isn't true. I really don't like being sold out. May have to take a twitter hiatus."CNN: Kutcher Threatens to Stop Twittering Other celebrity Twitter users, including Alyssa Milano, Demi Moore, Kevin Spacey and Adrianne Curry also expressed their concerns over the proposed show.Twitter: Alyssa Milano Twitter: Kevin Spacey Twitter: Demi Moore Twitter: Adrianne Curry
