The Twilight saga is a fantasy based romance series by author Stephenie Meyer, that follows the story of Isabella “Bella” Swan and her love affair with a 104-year-old vampire, Edward Cullen. The story is written from Bella’s perspective. In Twilight, the series’ opening book, Bella is sent to live with her father in Forks, Washington. She is immediately drawn to the mysterious Edward Cullen, whom she soon figures out is a member of a local family of vampires. In New Moon, Edward and the rest of his vampire clan abruptly leave Forks, under the impression that Edward’s relationship with Bella is endangering her life. The Cullen’s departure leaves Bella in a serious depression, causing her to act recklessly in the hopes of bringing Edward back. Bella develops a close friendship with Jacob Black, whom she discovers can morph into a werewolf.http://www.thetwilightsaga.com/ Black, along with the other werewolf members of his tribe set out to protect Bella from Victoria, a vampire seeking vengeance for the death of her partner, James. Edward gets word that Bella is dead, and unable to bear the news, sets off to Volterra, Italy in the hopes of the Volturi clan killing him. Bella races to Italy, trying to stop Edward from committing suicide, where the two are released from the Volturi only under the condition that Bella is bitten and made into a vampire. Eclipse finds Victoria still seeking retribution for James' death, and she creates an army of newly born vampires to do battle with the Cullens and kill Bella. At the same time, Bella is struggling in choosing between her love, Edward, and her friend, Jacob, as the two have been at odds throughout the series. In Breaking Dawn, Edward and Bella have been married and soon discover that they are expecting a child. Bella is barely able to carry the child to term, and nearly dies during childbirth. The couple name their half human, half vampire daughter, Renesmee. In an attempt to save Bella from her severely weakened state, Edward infuses some of his own venom into her, turning Bella into a vampire. Believing Renesmee is a violation of vampire law, a vampire from another clan reports the child to the Volturi. After pleading their case with the Volturi, Edward and many of his vampire counterparts are able to convince them that the child posses no risk to vampire kind, and they are left alone.http://www.thetwilightsaga.com/

On March 30, 2010 representatives for Stephenie Myer announced a new book to join the Twilight series on June 5, 2010, entitled The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.
