Twelve Monkeys is a dystopian, post-apocalyptic Science Fiction thriller about convicted criminal James Cole (Bruce Willis) who is given the chance to travel back in time to save the world from a deadly virus. Based on the French short film [[La Jetée]] and directed by Terry Gilliam, the movie centers around Cole's attempts at location the source of the virus and his run-ins with various people, including a psychiatrist (played by Madeleine Stowe) and a mentally unstable animal rights activist (played by Brad Pitt). The movie was a critical success and earned Pitt an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
