  • Tuxedos are formal suits, typically for men, but have come into fashion for women as well. A tuxedo (or tux) is worn for a semi-formal or black tie event. The jacket is made of wool and is single-breasted with a variation of a lapel. Tuxedos are the traditional garb or American teenagers when attending their high school prom. A tux is also typically rented rather than purchased.

  • Tux History

The tuxedo was invented in 1860 by Henry Poole when he created a short smoking jacket for Prince Edward VII of Wales. In 1886, the Prince sent James Potter to Poole and Co. to have them fashion him proper dinner attire. Potter's suit became so popular at the Tuxedo Club Park that they made it their uniform for informal dining.
