Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant

  • The Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant is located south of Miami, Florida. It consists of two nuclear reactors, the oldest of which has been in operation since 1972. On February 26, 2008 the two reactors shut down automatically in response to an loss of external power. Initial reports had indicated that the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant went down first, causing the outage.
