Turk Schonert was fired as offensive coordinator of the National Football League's Buffalo Bills on September 4, 2009. Schonert was replaced by former quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt. Schonert is the third NFL offensive coordinator to be fired during the 2009 preseason, following Chan Gailey of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jeff Jagodzinski of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
