Tupolev is a Russian manufacturer of airplanes including those used commercially and by the military. First founded in 1922, it was a major provider of civil and military aircraft for the Soviet Union, and lead the way in all metal aircraft. Today it is one of the leading companies in design of aircraft, with a long history.

1940: Breakout of World War II, development of bombers, fighters.
1952: TU-95 Bear, fastest turboprop bomber, still in service.
1956: Second Jetliner to enter service, first to remain in service, TU-104
1957: TU-114 holds reccords as fastest, longest range plane of the 50s and early 60s.
1968: TU-144, first supersonic transport.
1972: TU-154 introduced, most common Tupolev Plane.
1989: TU-204, first Fly By Wire plane in USSR/Russia.
