  • Tuomo Ruutu is a professional hockey player originally from Finland. He currently plays for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League.
  • NHL Career

    Ruutu was drafted out of the SM-liiga in Finland in 2001, ninth overall in the NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks in 2003. Ruutu returned to Finland during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout providing hockey commentary for Finnish Television. Rejoining the Blackhawks after the lockout, Ruutu was limited to just 15 games after two separate surgeries kept him off the ice. After nearly two more seasons in Chicago, he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on February 26, 2008.
