Tunisia is also the smallest country in Africa in term of geographical area. Because of its location and despite its size, Tunisia has widely varying climates, with arid conditions in the south (where it juts slightly into the Sahara Desert, and temperate climates along the northern coast. Tunisia borders the Mediterranean Sea, with Algeria and Libya to the south.
