  • Golden Hurricanes History

The team played their first football game in 1895, when the school was called Henry Kendall College. In a November 13, 1915, game, the team used the "tower play," in which one player was lifted on the shoulders of another, enabling the man on top to catch a pass. The play, which was later banned, helped the team defeat the Missouri School of Mines 117-0. The Golden Hurricanes saw further success in the 1940s, becoming the first team to play in five consecutive New Year's Day bowl games.Official Site: Golden Hurricanes History (12.3 MB)
