True Mom Confessions is a website that allows mothers to anonymously vent frustrations, fears and concerns about parenting. Admissions range from lighthearted anecdotes about motherhood to serious problems related to depression and alcoholism. Website founder Romi Lassally's book, True Mom Confessions: Real Moms Get Real was released in April of 2009. The book is a compilation of many confessions that have been posted on the website over a period of about two years.LancasterOnline.com: June Cleaver doesn't live here anymore (May 10, 2009)
True Mom Posts
While many of the posts on the True Mom Confessions forum are typical frustrations shared by many mothers, including breastfeeding, and potty training, others are more bleak. One poster wrote "I don't know what I want, but I know this isn't it." On Mother's Day 2009, one forum poster expressed despair over her two grown children "disowning" her, saying "I give up. I can't do it anymore."True Mom Confessions: Confession 444004
Not all the confessions are so disparaging. Some mothers express thanks for help their husbands provide with the children; others mention how glad they are that they chose to bring children into the world and remark on how incredible the motherhood experience has been for them.
