Troy Polamalu

Troy Polamalu is a Pro Bowl strong safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. His trademark is his long hair, which he wears in recognition of his Samoan heritage.

Polamalu endorses Head and Shoulders shampoo and has appeared in television commercials for the product. On August 30, 2010, it was reported that Polamalu's hair had been insured for $1 million by Head and Shoulders. The policy was underwritten by Lloyd's of London. Polamalu was born Troy Benjamin Aumua and attended high school in Winston, Oregon, where he played football, basketball and baseball. In his senior year he was selected to the All-Far West Team for his football play at running back and defensive back. He was recruited by the USC Trojans, where he started all three years and shared a room with quarterback Carson Palmer.

In 2003, the Pittsburgh Steelers chose Polamalu 16th overall and he was instantly used in the defensive scheme.
