Tropic Thunder is a 2008 Comedy / Action film starring Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black. The plot revolves around a group of actors who start out making a movie about the Vietnam War, but their director gets fed up with their antics and sends them out into the middle of a real live war-zone.

Tom Cruise Cameo
In Tropic Thunder, Tom Cruise makes a cameo as a fat, bald movie executive. The filmmakers were hoping to keep Cruise's cameo as a secret, but in November 2008, pictures of the actor in makeup appeared on the television show, Inside Edition, as well as on several internet sites. Cruise's attorneys threatened to sue, and many of the sites agreed to take down the photos.
