History
Scott Abbott and Chris Haney made Trivial Pursuit in 1979, when they found that their Scrabble game was incomplete. It was first released in 1982.In 1984 Trivial Pursuit's popularity soared and over 20 million games were sold. Part of the huge success was the trivia, which was specifically targeted to baby boomer nostalgia. By 1988, the rights were sold to Parker Brothers.
Game Play
The board is set up and the circle pieces are set on the central space, one for each player. Players take turns rolling the dice and asking questions from the cards. A player can move his or her piece any direction along the board but only the number of spaces determined by the dice. A question is asked based on the color where the player's piece landed and the card drawn. A correct answer earns a triangle piece to be set into the player's piece and another roll. Once a player has a full piece they can return to the central space to win the game.
