Triple Five Soul was launched by designer Camella Ehlke in 1989 in New York city as a small label with hand-sewn hoodies and velour suits. The label has now become a mainstream fashion line with layered interchangeable apparel for the 20 - 40 something crowd.
The Look
Triple Five Soul blends a hip-hop vibe with bohemian chic. Blazers layered over hoodies layered over t-shirts are just an aspect of the full line which includes pants, shorts, sweatpants, belts, hats, and bags. Colors vary with funky prints and plaids. Similar labels: Diesel, True Religion and Ben Sherman.
The Name
According to the company's MySpace page, the name was "originally entitled with a tongue-in-cheek reference to one of the then-popular telephone party lines, T5S quickly became a focal point for a multi-faceted, quickly emerging cultural movement."
