Controversy
In March, 2008, video segments of sermons by Rev. Wright were circulated extensively by opponents of the Obama campaign. In the segments, which were taken selectively from a large number of taped sermons, Wright makes controversial statements on topics such as patriotism and 9/11. Opponents of the Obama campaign have sought to use them as evidence that Obama secretly holds views at odds with those he publicly professes. Obama's response was the "race speech" of March 18, 2008. -
