Trent Lott to Retire

Mississippi Senator, Trent Lott plans to resign from Congress at the end of the year. In 2002, Lott had stepped down from his role as the Senate majority-leader after stating that the U.S. would be a better place had Strom Thurmond's 1948 segregationist presidential campaign won.
