Treasure Planet

Disney's 42nd full length animated feature Treasure Island was one of the studio's biggest flops. However, even with mediocre box office performance and tepid critical acclaim, it was still nominated for a "Best Animated Feature" Academy Award.

Treasure Planet was the first film ever to be released in IMAX and regular theatrical formats simultaneously. It was made using the technique of overlaying 3D computer animation with traditional two dimensional hand drawn animation cels.

Plot Summary

This adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel Treasure Island finds young Jim Hawkins and a futuristic crew traveling to the farthest reaches of outer space in search of adventure and treasure
