Travis Tritt was one of the number one singers of Country music in the '90s along with Garth Brooks, Clint Black and Alan Jackson. Travis Tritt fell in love with music as a child although his parents did not encourage his love for music. He taught himself how to play guitar at the age of eight years old and started to write songs when he was just 14. Although his mother didn't encourage him to perform, she wanted him to sing gospel music instead. His father was afraid Travis wouldn't make any money being a singer. So when Travis was 18 years old, he tried to settle down with a regular job but he was not successful. He was married and divorced twice before the age of 22. He continued to play music while working different jobs but he was not happy. So his old boss from an air conditioning company encouraged him to follow his dreams. Travis quit and started making music his full time career.
Travis Tritt started his successful career in the year 1982 when he recorded a demo tape at a private studio. The studio was owned by Danny Davenport who happened to be an executive at Warner Brothers. When Mr. Davenport heard Tritt's vocals, he was very impressed so he decided to take Tritt under his wing. For the next few years the duo continued to record demo tapes while Travis played the country music circuit. Travis was starting to be very successful in his singing career.
In 1989, Warner Brothers' Nashville division signed the singer and his debut album, "Country Club." "Country Club" appeared in stores in early 1990. "Country Club" became a top ten hit not long after. Travis's next two singles, "Help me Hold on" and "I'm Gonna be Somebody" hit number one and number two.
In 1991, Tritt's second album, "It's All About Change" became a hit. In 1992, "Trouble", his third album was released. "Trouble" wasn't as popular as the album, "It's All About to Change" but Tritt bounced back in 1994 with another album, "Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof" which hit platinum. "Greatest Hits: From the Beginning" went platinum in 1995 and the album, "Restless Kind" was released in 1996.
In the fall of 2000, two more albums were released, "No More Looking Over my Shoulder" and "Down the Road I Go."
