Travis Diener is a professional basketball player for the Portland Trailblazers. He was born in Fond du lac, Wisconsin on March 1, 1982. Diener teamed with Dwayne Wade in leading Marquette to the 2003 final four before bowing out to the eventual champion, Kentucky. He scored his career high in points versus Holy Cross with 29 points, March 20, 2003. He followed this up with 23 points versus Missouri, three days later.
Diener, Wade, and Steve Novak all made it to the NBA from this Marquette team. Diener finished his Marquette career as tenth in the teams history in three point field goals with 126. After graduation, Diener was drafted by the Orlando Magic as the 38th pick in the 2005 draft. He debuted for Orlando Dec, 2, 2005 versus Memphis, scoring only three points. In two seasons with Orlando, Diener averaged only 3.8 points a game, but yet managed to sign a big deal with the Indiana Pacers for three years and 14.86 million. Diener failed to reach expectations as a Pacer the first season with the team. Averaging only 6.9 points a game, and 3.8 assists in 2007. He lasted one more season with the team before being released. After sitting out for most of 2010, Diener was signed by Portland in March 2010 as a fourth point guard after the team traded Steve Blake. Diener was to back up Andre Miller, Jerryd Bayless and Paddy Mills. In very limited action, Diener averaged 0.7 points a game, appearing in nine games. He played in minimally during the Blazers ouster from the playoffs versus Phoenix.
