  • The Traveling Wilburys were a musical "Supergroup" that featured the talents of George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne (with Jim Keltner on drums). While they produced only two albums during their time together: Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 in 1988 and Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3 in 1990, the collaboration was well-received by the public earned them a Grammy nomination for "Album of the Year".

  • Background

    Orbison, Dylan, Lynne and Harrison originally got together to record a song for the B-side of George Harrison single "This Is Love". Tom Petty became involved after Harrison had left his Guitar at his house. After recording the song "Handle With Care", the group decided that the song was too good to be a B-side and went about recording a full album to support it. Although Roy Orbison died shortly after the first album was released, the success of the song and album led them to release a second album two years later.
  • Album Remastering

    In 2007, the original albums were remastered by former Wilbury Jeff Lynne. Two additional tracks were added to each album: "Maxine" and "Like a Ship" to Vol. 1;Traveling Wilburys Music: Volume One "Nobody's Child" and "Runaway" to Vol. 3.Traveling Wilburys Music: Volume Three A compilation including all tracks in the remastered collection, along with a DVD including a history of the group and music videos, was also released in 2007. George Harrison's son, Dhani Harrison recorded vocals for the remasters of "Maxine" and "Like A Ship" and a guitar solo for "Like A Ship" under the pseudonym Ayrton Wilbury.
  • Pseudonyms

    For the project, each of the individual members assumed pseudonuyms. For their second album, the members of the group changed their pseudonyms. The story was that all of the members were all sons of Charles Truscott Wilbury, Sr.
