The Travelers Championship is an annual tournament on the PGA Tour. It takes place at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The Travelers Championship was founded in 1952 as the Insurance City Open. Ted Kroll won the inaugural event by four strokes.http://www.travelerschampionship.com/history.htm The tournament became the Greater Hartford Open in 1967 and in 1973 Sammy Davis Jr was added to the name of the tournament.http://www.travelerschampionship.com/history.htm Canon sponsored the event from 1985 until 2002 and Buick took over the event from 2004 to 2007.http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/r034/winners.html Billy Casper won the event a record four times.
