Trainspotting Film

  • Based on the book of the same name by author Irvine Welsh, Trainspotting is an Academy Award-nominated film that follows the lives of a group of Scottish heroin addicts.

In the movie, Renton (Ewan McGregor) is a heroin addict who often quits and relapses into using drugs again. At one point of sobriety, he moves to London to get a fresh start in life and gets a job in real estate. After being reunited with old friends at a funeral back in Edinburgh, he decides to take part in a hefty drug deal to make a large sum of money.

The title Trainspotting refers to a part of the story that is in the book but does not appear in the film. Trainspotting itself is a hobby that involves train enthusiasts trying to "spot" different kinds of trains and train cars.
