Tracy McGrady

Tracy McGrady is an All-Star guard for the Detroit Pistons. McGrady has received several awards and recognitions in his career, winning the NBA Scoring Title in 2003 and in 2004. He has been elected to the All-Star Game seven times, and is a six-time All-NBA Selection.

In August of 2010, McGrady agreed to a one year contract with the Pistons for the 2010 NBA season. In 2009, he had played only 30 games for the Houston Rockets and a short term stint with the New York Knicks. Prior to signing with Detroit, McGrady had considered joining the Chicago Bulls, but was not offered a deal after the team decided he wasn't a good fit for their offense.http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5451434

Speaking of his new role in Detroit, McGrady defended his ability against critics, saying "It's not like I'm 41 or even 35. I just turned 31. Early Life

Tracy Lamar McGrady, Jr was born in Bartow, Florida, on May 24, 1979. He attended Mount Zion Christian Academy and was named the High School Player of the Year during his senior year by USA Today. Even though he was a highly recruited prospect by the top college basketball programs in the country, McGrady elected to forgo college and declare himself eligible for the 1997 NBA draft.

Pro Career

McGrady was selected with the ninth pick in the 1997 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors. Paired with his cousin Vince Carter, the Raptors reached playoffs for the first time in it's franchise's history in 2000. The following year, he was signed and traded to the Orlando Magic. He would blossom as the team's franchise player, earning his first All-Star appearance and winning the 2001 NBA Most Improved Player Award. In 2004, he would capture his first scoring title with an average of 32.1 points a game.

He would follow that up the following season with his second scoring title, with an average of 28 points a game. On June 29, 2004, the Orlando Magic would trade McGrady along with Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue and Reece Gaines to the Houston Rockets for Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato.

Knee Injury

On December 2, 2008, the Rockets announced that McGrady would be out for three weeks in order to rehabilitate and rest a sore left knee. McGrady had arthroscopic knee surgery on May 6, 2008.ESPN.com: Knee injury to sideline McGrady for three weeks (December 2, 2008)
