Tori Amos Discography

  • Critically acclaimed pianist and singer/songwriter Tori Amos' emotionally charged songwriting and willingness to address controversial subjects and personal tragedy have gained her a large and devoted following. Amos was raised by a Methodist preacher and got her start at the young age of four, playing and singing in her church choir. Amos won a scholarship to Baltimore's Peabody Conservatory at the age of 5, becoming the youngest person ever to attend the school. She would later lose her scholarship due to her burgeoning interest in rock music. At 21 Amos moved to Los Angeles to pursue her music career after several years performing on the piano bar circuit of the United States East coast. She eventually landed at Atlantic Records, releasing an unsuccessful album Y Kant Tori Read, and following up with a re-tooled musical style. Atlantic began to promote Amos as the heir apparent of Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell, sponsoring a trip to England to promote her debut solo album Little Earthquakes.
